Crazy Hair Day

On Thursday, Jeff attended a CFT for Miss R. Not much progress has been made in the case, although the bio parents did show up to the meeting, having missed the previous ones. We believe that the outcome of the case will be decided in November for Miss R...if CPS and the judge decide to follow state law. They may allow extensions, which violates the spirit of the law which is designed to put the infant/toddlers' needs first (e.g., based on what research has shown on attachment). I'm distressed that the "system" is going to do our foster daughter a disservice.

Jeff picked up the kids in the afternoon. He set up a small pool under the patio earlier in the day. The water felt good. The pool itself is looking sad b/c it has an air leak, but the kids had fun. After our pool excursion, I put both kids in pull-ups. I'm hoping that they'll come to the realization that pull-ups are nicer than diapers b/c they are less bulky.

Jeff made them tuna casserole for dinner. Henry didn't really try it, but Miss R eventually did and seemed to like it.

The kids had tons of fun in the evening chasing each other around the living room. Lots of hugs were given in the chase. It was so cute.

We gave the kids a bath. Miss R had gotten stuff in her hair so I took out her braids and conditioned her hair. Prior to the bath, I had Miss R sit on the Elmo potty. She seemed OK with that but didn't urinate. Henry then sat on the potty, and we cheered when he peed. Miss R cheered too. I'm not sure that she understood why we were cheering, but she likes to clap and be happy. It will be nice for us when the kids are potty trained. Not that diapers are hard to deal with, but I think that the kids will like the potty once they realize that they are in control of their bodies.

Today is crazy hair day at their school. Jeff put mousse in Henry's hair. Miss R loved it. She chased Henry around, gave him hugs, and kept trying to run her fingers through his hair. It would have been ideal if I had left the braids in Miss R's hair the night before b/c when I undo her brains, her hair can indeed be crazy. But I let it go natural last night. I try parting her hair and doing some twists to make it go out in all directions. As we got out of the car, Henry put on his sun glasses. A couple people commented on how he looked like a rock star. On my way out the door, Miss Stephanie, one of Henry's teachers, asked if they could put some spray coloring in Henry's hair. I said that would be fine with us. So, we'll have to see what it looks like at the end of the day.
