Henry and Miss R have been having a good time at daycare. On Monday, I picked them up in the afternoon. They were happy to see me. Unfortunately, they were not happy with the car ride home. I'd come straight from school and didn't have bottles for them. They let me know that they were displeased with my performance. We had a busy evening around the house. After their bath, I braided Miss R's hair because she was scheduled to have a bio parent visitation the following day.
On Tuesday morning, Henry did not want to be separated from Miss R when I dropped her off on the playground. He was very unhappy and yelled out for her "R! R!" He clung to me as we went to his classroom but not as tightly as before.
Miss R was scheduled to have a bio parent visitation. The CPS driving service picked her up at daycare. They were supposed to drop her off at home after the visit. The visits last from 11-1PM, so she usually gets back around 1:45PM or so. The driving service called me at 11:35AM. They had picked her up but after they arrived at the CPS office, they were told that the visitation was canceled (no reason given). They wanted to know if they should return her home or back to daycare. Jeff and I decided to try her back at daycare. She was happy when she returned, but she didn't nap; she just "rested quietly."
Grammy and Poppy picked the kids up in the afternoon. They want to spend time with them this week b/c we'll be gone next week to Oregon. The kids swam. Miss R is starting to like the water. Grammy was surprised that Henry ate some of the broccoli served at dinner.
Henry was asleep when they came home. Miss R was wide awake. She played in the kitchen as I made dinner (gazpacho soup). She climbed up onto the high chair all by herself. She was very pleased with herself, smiley and giggly. I pondered to Jeff if this is what it is like with most kids, them quietly entertaining themselves for brief snippets of the day so that parents can do things like cook, clean, go to the bathroom, maybe even shower. It's never been like that with Henry. If either of us were single parents with Henry, we'd never get anything done. I made the best gazpacho soup that I've ever tasted. Jeff said that it was good...for gazpacho soup which doesn't rank very high on his list of foods. Miss R loved it. She had several bites, even though she'd already had dinner at Grammy's house.
This morning, we had a late start. I got the kids to school at 8:20AM. Miss R didn't cry at all. She happily walked to her class on the playground. Henry didn't want to leave Miss R behind though and called for her again. He clung to me as we entered his class. He cried, but today it was his melodramatic fake sounding cry. I'm guessing that he was putting on a show to make me feel bad. Miss Lulu held him and told him to put on his happy face. He mustered a small smile for me as I left.
Grammy was going to pick up the kids today, but Jeff and I are going to pick them b/c we have to swing by SonoraQuest to get Miss R's blood drawn again. She is going to be an unhappy camper this afternoon. That's all for now.
