Grandpa Kenski held Henry from 8-9:45AM. That allowed me to do exciting things like take a shower, do some more dishes, etc. Henry drank 95 mls during that time. My dad certainly has the touch getting food down Henry. And, Henry doesn't seem to vomit much around my dad.
Jeff weighed Henry at 6 lbs 8 ozs. That's a 2.5 oz increase over yesterday's weight. We were stunned. We are trying to temper our enthusiasm, keeping in mind that he may not gain weight tomorrow, considering that today's gain was huge.I tried giving Henry a massage. He wasn't in the mood. I made him do a few minutes of tummy time, but he wasn't in the mood for that either.
My mom came around 12:30PM. Henry didn't sleep much this afternoon. Jeff and I made a big step by leaving the house together, while Henry was under my mom's care. This is the first time that we've left him at the same time. We went to Babies R Us to buy some baby toys. These are things that we would have gotten this summer when we assumed that we'd have time to put his nursery together. Henry has become increasingly interested in his environment. We think that he sometimes gets bored, so we decided that it was time to buy him some entertainment. We bought several toys that make noises when you shake them and two mirrors.
Henry ate quite a bit in our absence. He was rather fussy as my mom left. We wanted to take him for a walk, but he was too wound up. I ended up nursing him for a while. Most of the time, he prefers the bottle to the breast. But every once in a while, he really wants to nurse. As I said a long time ago, I don't think that he has suffered from so-called "nipple confusion." He does, however, have strong preferences. Sometimes it is for the bottle. Sometimes it is for the breast. Unfortunately, we aren't good at reading his mind, so feeding him involves some trial and error. Like yesterday, he is eating in record amounts. With 4 hours left in the day, he has already consumed 547 mls. He's become quite the little piggy.
He still vomits, but the amount is less substantial than usual. I wouldn't quite call it normal baby spit up yet, but at least it is trending toward that direction.
Henry is currently sacked out on his daddy's lap. Once he does another feeding, we are going to attempt a bath tonight. He very much needs one.
