On Monday, Alicia and Karina came over in the morning as usual. Grammy visited in the afternoon. She noticed that Henry was sniffling. By the evening, Henry had a full blown cold. He went to bed around 7-7:30PM and got up at 6:30AM or so.
I called Alicia in the Tuesday morning to let her know that Henry was sick. I also canceled the afternoon appointment with Selah (OT) and Elsa (developmental coordinator). Because they visit special needs kids as their profession, it is important that they don't get sick and spread stuff around. I spent the day with Henry. His nose was runny all day and his head felt warm (although his body was fine). He would cough occasionally, but in terms of energy, he was his usual, boisterous self.
By mid-morning, I gave up on clothes and let him wander around in his diaper. He has learned how to spit and decided to drink water and then spit it out on his front (once during breakfast and again an hour later). He was sitting on the floor during the later episode, dumped his tippy cup on his front, made a puddle, and then laid in it. I've been letting him make a mess under the assumption that he needs to learn how water works. He took a 2 hour nap around 10AM, which is a bit longer than usual.
The cutest event of the day was that Henry has learned where his tummy is. Since he came home, we kiss him often on his stomach and say "I'm going to kiss your tummy" beforehand and things like that. Without his clothes on, he seemed particularly interested in his stomach and kept patting it. So when he did that, I'd say "That's your tummy." By the afternoon, he was able to pat his tummy when I'd ask "Henry, where's your tummy?"
In the late afternoon, we went over to Grandma and Grandpa's house. In our absence, Henry dumped out the dog water bowl. And he gave Grammy a hard time with a diaper change. He went swimming, ate turkey, hummus, and apricots, and later fell asleep on Grammy.
