According to the ENT, Henry Can Hear

Jeff picked up Henry at school this afternoon. Henry said that he had a good day. They went to the ENT, Dr. Dean. Henry had his hearing tested. According to the ENT, Henry can hear just fine. So there goes our theory about why Henry often doesn't appear to listen. Turns out, it isn't physiological.

Miss R had her sibling visitation today. The CPS supervisor called me to let me know that her bio parents showed up, which was a surprise to everyone. They told her bio parents that she was in an adoptive placement who didn't want her to have contact with them. We actually never said that, but I guess that's what people usually do. CPS told them that their rights were severed back in November at the hearing that they did not attend. They didn't protest. They had brought her a bag of clothes. CPS called me to ask me if we wanted to accept or reject. I said that we'd accept. CPS is going to set up a different schedule so that Miss R can have a visitation that's on a slightly different schedule from the one that the parents can attend. Perhaps the parents will try to start attending visitations with the older siblings to whom rights were not severed. Both CPS workers whom called me this afternoon seemed startled. The CPS supervisor was worried that Miss R would be upset or unsettled, but she was just fine when she returned home. My impression is that she does enjoy seeing her older siblings. And I think that she feels confident about being returned to us.

Jeff made us dinner: mac & cheese and hot dogs. The kids ate well. They really liked both. I helped them fork the mac & cheese. They had second helpings, which is amazing. Henry also drank all of his juice. Plus, he'd had a Cliff bar before going to the ENT (240 calories!).

We watched a little bit of Pirates of the Caribbean: World's End. Henry wanted to watch something with pirates in it. We think that we are going to try again for Disneyland the second to last weekend of January (that's the weekend after MLK Day).

The kids didn't give us too much hassle about going to bed, although I can still hear Miss R talk to herself.
