Sick Day

On Tuesday, both kids stayed home. We called CPS to cancel Miss R's sibling visit. I took the kids to Dr. Bianchi's. Dr. Bianchi said that Henry looked fine. He had felt warm when he first woke up. Miss R's fever came down but she wasn't feeling her best. Turns out that she has an infection in her right ear. So she's now on antibiotics (oral and eye drops). Grammy met me at the doctor's office so that I didn't have to do it alone.

Henry and Miss R enjoyed mini-burgers from Burger King for lunch. It's probably the first time in my life that I have personally drive a car through a Burger King drive-thru. I did it b/c Henry had announced that he wanted french fries. Given that the kids have been sick, I was happy that they had expressed interest in food.

The kids got put down for their nap by Jeff at 1PM. I left at 1:30PM for a meeting at school. The kids didn't wake up until 5PM.

After dinner, we played in the living room. The kids tackled Jeff. Then, we played dress up with slippers and a purple tutu and beads. Henry looked lovely. He was gracious about sharing the costume with Miss R. Years from now, I'm quite sure that he'll wonder what the heck Jeff and I were thinking for let him dress up as a ballerina. As of yet, we haven't instituted firm gender rules about dress. I'd rather that he grow up with a progressive outlook on colors anyway.

It's been a week since Henry had his ear tubes put in. Whenever Jeff gives Henry his ear drops, Henry tells him "I'm all better..." as an argument for no longer needing the drops. He's such a smart boy. All in all, he hasn't fought the drops as much as I would have expected.

The kids continue to be fascinated with Lily's kennel. They climb into the kennel, close the door, and announce that they are going to some location (Costco, Toys R Us, etc.) . They've also discovered how to swing from the top of the cage. I told Henry that he was a monkey. When I came back from getting the camera, Henry announced that he was the "Jungle VIP" (straight from King Louie's song in The Jungle Book).

Tomorrow, the kids will start back at school.
