Kids Don't Make Good Alarm Clocks

Our kids are always up before 7:30AM...at least one of them is. Jeff and I don't really sleep in on the weekends b/c someone is always up and ready to start their day.

I went to bed around 2AM. We are almost all aways up around 7AM. Jeff hears the kids, gets up to check on them and get them breakfast while I shower. We are out the door around 8AM. It works.

On Wednesday, I wake up to Jeff's voice. "Kate, it's 8:24AM. You didn't need to get to school right away, did you?" Unfortunately, I did. I teach late on Mondays and Wednesdays but I do have 10AM research team on Wednesdays. The kids were still asleep. A bit surprising given that they'd had a FOUR HOUR nap on Tuesday afternoon. Guess they were still recovering from whatever bug they've been fighting.

Miss R was upset that I abandoned her in the arms of her teacher. Henry was OK with me leaving. He sat down at his class table and waited for snack.

The kids went over to Grammy and Poppy's house in the afternoon. I believe that my parents picked them up after 4:30PM. They have playground time at 4PM that we don't like them to miss. Then, I arrived at the house at 6:15PM to get the kids. They hadn't had dinner yet. Poppy was gone at the b-ball game. Grammy was just getting their plates ready. Neither child ate much. Henry did OK. Miss R picked out her food for well over an hour. She is the slowest eater on the planet. A bit annoying considering that she probably only had a couple bites altogether. The kids were hyper while trying to round them up. They showed Grammy their Maniac dances.

Then, it was homeward bound. When Miss R saw our house, she yelled "To Daddy!" I asked Henry to say "Bonjourno, Papa!" to Jeff when he saw him. He said, "Say Bonjourno Papa"...wish that he'd left out the "say." Trying to convince Jeff that I should take up a 5-week teaching gig in Italy this summer, and we should take the kids there.

We played in the living room briefly. Then it was teeth and bed.
