Miss R was up and about while Henry took his nap. I think that she rather enjoyed some alone time in the afternoon with us. She basically puttered around and had a fabulous time doing it. She told Jeff that "Princess Jasmine pooped in her pants" and then tried to pawn off her Jasmine doll to Jeff who played along and said "I'm not changing Jasmine. You change Jasmine." She played cook and made us several rounds of "burgers" and "coffee." She had fun walking toward our room, then shrieking at the top of her lungs and running into the living room proclaiming she was scared and something about a monster. And she had fun learning to zerbert Jeff (zerberting = using one's mouth on the skin to simulate gaseous noises...a very high culture activity).
Baby A was active in the late afternoon. She woke up from her nap and downed a 5 oz bottle, which is as large a bottle as she's ever had in one sitting. She spit up a little. And she is still having some back-end issues. I don't think that she's becoming dehydrated, and she is acting happy and active, so we'll wait until Tuesday to call the doctor unless things change for the worse. As she is currently on a hypoallergenic formula, I'm not sure where we go from here. She spent about 15 minutes on her stomach doing tummy time. She managed to turn herself 180 degrees during that time. I suspect that she'll be an early crawler.
When Henry woke up, he was in a happy mood. He and Miss R had fun running around together. They took turns closing themselves in the mini-foldout couch that Aunt Erin and Uncle Brian got Henry for his birthday.
Jeff took the dogs for a walk and ran into our neighbors. Hal and Swanee brought back I LOVE NY t-shirts for the kids (for Baby A, they got a onesie). Today was a fabulous clothes day for the kids as a package from Aunt Jennifer arrived with outfits for each of them. For Henry, it was a Buzz Lightyear shirt and shorts. He wore the shirt today. Not the shorts though. He decided it was casual Saturday and ran around in his Buzz Lightyear underwear instead. For Miss R, there is a fancy long shirt with pants, which will look fantastic on her. And for Baby A, a Winnie the Pooh onesie, which is super cute.
Henry and Miss R resisted the quiche tonight, even though I called it "Captain Hook's Quiche." They also rejected their small lettuce salads. In fact, Henry spit out a piece of his lettuce and then spit on the remaining lettuce on his plate. At one point, he had the following conversation with Jeff at the dinner table:
HENRY: I'm sad.
JEFF: What makes you sad?
HENRY: Lettuce.
It took some work getting the kids to bed. But I put Baby A down when she wasn't fully asleep. I read that it was important to get kids to fall asleep themselves, something that we didn't do with Henry until he was older.
Henry did his usual round of stall techniques. He got me to get extra ice cubes for his water. I told him that we were going to the Splash Pad tomorrow and maybe a movie. He said that he didn't want to go to the movie because it was too scary...as if Henry is ever really scared of anything. I told him that it was the new Shrek movie, so he decided that he wants to see it.
