I picked up the kids at 4:30PM. I got Henry first. The kids were again listening to a story. His usual teachers weren't there. No idea what was up with that. Henry acknowledged my presence but didn't make any great attempts to hug me or anything. I was again popular with the other kids. I discussed with Aidan how his parents would be arriving soon. Harmoni seemed happy to see me. I talked with a couple kids about the brown monkey. About 5 minutes later, Henry decided that I had established good enough street cred to merit hugging. We picked up Miss R who was thoroughly excited to see me.
As we walked passed the front desk, Henry saw a pretty teacher whom I've never met. But he was obviously eager to obtain her recognition. I think her name is "Miss Casi" or something like that. Henry said (yelled) her name several times until she acknowledged him (she'd been talking to the director) and said good bye.
When we got home, we played for awhile. Jeff made dinner. Cheese crisps and minestrone. The kids weren't excited about the minestrone, but Henry did manage to fish out a couple red beans. Somehow we got on the topic of "The Lion King." I attempted to sing "Circle of Life." My attempt went unappreciated by Henry who bluntly said, "Yuck. Yuck."
We decided to forgo the bath tonight. We played for awhile. In a bizarre twist of events, Henry bit Miss R on the arm during what had been a happy, laughing, fun playtime. I have no idea what brought on the behavior. He was sent to timeout. He didn't break the skin. Jeff got a piece of ice and put it in a sandwich bag to put on the area to minimize swelling. Miss R was so fascinated by the ice that she forgot her injury. We made Henry apologize to Miss R, which he did.
I sat with Miss R during her nebulizer treatment. She wiggled a lot. And then the kids went to bed after brushing their teeth. Jeff oversaw the ritual of going to bed. I caught up with an old high school friend whom I hadn't spoken to in years, which was fun.
Signing off...
