The Train Room (Formerly Known as the Dining Room)

On Sunday, Jeff took the kids to the park while I stayed home and worked. They attempted to have a picnic, but Jeff reported that it didn't work out too well. The kids were unimpressed with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They had a good time playing on the equipment and putting sand on their legs. Henry managed to get sand in his diaper. After that, Jeff took them to Grammy and Poppy's house. They took a nap within a half-hour of their arrival and slept around three hours.

After Jeff dropped them off, he met up with the father selling a tub of Thomas the Tank Engine toys. I'd made arrangements with his wife for Jeff to meet her husband halfway between our homes. Thanks, craiglist! For $75, we got a Deluxe Round House (new costs about $120), 14 trains and 15 box cars (they are used but in working condition), two tunnels (one waterfall tunnel and one that makes a lot of train and car noises), and tons of track. It was a great deal! And now, we really have an excellent set for Henry and Miss R to play with. I don't think that we'll be needing new track any time soon. The dining room has been renamed "The Train Room." Now it is "a really useful" space.

Jeff came home, picked me up, and then we got the kids around 4:45PM. They'd only been up for about a half hour, so Grammy and Poppy didn't really get to spend much time with them.

We took the kids to Monkey Business, which made both Henry and Miss R very happy. In the car ride there, Henry sang "Happy Birthday, Gorilla!" b/c Miss R was looking at the Little Gorilla book. We played games. The kids ate a lot of macaroni and cheese for dinner. Henry claimed that he needed money and stuck his hand in my pockets fishing for coins. He is a persistent fellow.

When we got home, we discovered that Lily had chewed the power cord to the expensive automatic dog door. We were just about to plug it into the door so that she could get in and out at will. But the door is now inoperable. She is so destructive. I'm pretty sure that we are going to have to crate her. I never thought that we'd have to crate a dog, but she is a problem. She's ruined toys, a pair of my dress shoes, carpet, wall, and now dog door.

We played with the trains when we got home. Then, it was bath, medication time, teeth, and bed.

Tomorrow is Daddy Day as it is Monday, and I stay at school until 8:30PM.
