Before talking about today, I want to add something about yesterday's UA game. Late in the game the announcer said "Time out ASU" to which Henry responded "I not go to time out!!" It's funny how sometimes you don't connect things like basketball and toddler discipline, but the kids hear it like it is.
Today the kids wore their dinosaur t-shirts to school. Henry had raptors and Miss R had T-Rex. When Henry put his on he started to roar and then proclaimed "He roars like a lion!" To which I responded, "He roars like a lion?" and Henry straightened me out "No, he's not a lion." I thought that was pretty good, using similes at age 2 3/4.
After school they went to Grammy's house, which they hadn't done for a week or so. Miss R has been going to school in underwear instead of diapers. I forgot to give Grammy a heads up on that one and she proceeded to soak Grammy. She does very well most of the time but there are still some accidents.
The kids did not want to come home. As soon as she saw me Miss R said "No Daddy, no!" and shook her head violently from side to side. She is usually happy to see me and runs and gives me a big hug. Henry never wants to come home. She also fought me getting into the car seat which she normally doesn't do. She was very distraught over not having her shoes, because they had suffered a soaking along with Grammy.
At home Henry did a wonderful job of reading along to Hamilton, a story of a pig who almost eats a wolf. Kate would start the sentences and Henry would fill in the last word and at times would do several words. Sometimes when I'm listening I think I know what word comes next and then Henry says something else and of course, he is always right.
Kate was carrying Henry around on her shoulder just before bed. She had him like a sack of potatoes with his stomach on her shoulders, head in front, feet in back. She kissed him on the back and said "I kissed your back" to which he replied "Kiss my butt!!" Hopefully that one isn't repeated too often or too loudly like the way they have taken to saying "Stinky butt!" at inappropriate moments. Kate notes that she did not actually comply with his request.
Tomorrow Henry gets a haircut and Miss R has a visit with her brothers.
