"You're a codfish!"

Kate had to work on Saturday so I took the kids to the Desert Museum in the morning to give her some quiet time. We had a really nice time. It was pretty busy but it is a big place so it wasn't bad. Both kids behaved very well almost the entire time with only a couple minor fits. I think their favorites were the snakes, digging in the dirt for fossils and playing on a large concrete tortoise. Miss R also really enjoyed the fish.

The funniest part was when we had lunch. We were seated right next to the cleaning staff who would wipe down the tables when people left. Henry basically attached to the young lady. He sat next to her kicking his feet and blowing on his straw that made a whistling sound. When she went to clean tables he went with her and copied her cleaning motion and looked back at me and said, "I'm cleaning!" The young lady handled the attention of young Henry the flirt very well.

We had read Peter Pan in the morning. In it Peter calls Captain Hook a codfish several times. Henry of course picked up on this and called me, Miss R and a little girl who was about 6 a codfish. It's hard to get mad at him for such a silly line.

Both kids fell asleep in the car on the way home. After their nap they went to Grammy and Poppy's house for dinner. It was Kate and my anniversary of the day we first met. I won't say how long we've been together but it is a long time. We went out to dinner and then returned to pick up the kids.

The kids were still eating dinner when we returned. They were also watching Peter Pan. We watched the rest with them. Miss R fell asleep on the way home but the energizer bunny that is Henry was still going despite it being fairly late.

Today it was too wet to go anywhere fun so we settled in for a day of hi-jinks at home. Henry was up at 6:30 despite being up fairly late the night before. He is now starting to get out of his bed and wander around rather than just crying and waiting for us to come get him. So far it has been fine but I am a bit concerned he will get into something at some point.

Henry had his breakfast and then when Miss R got up he had breakfast again which is a good thing I think. We read books, played with the nets from some soccer goals we have and used the plastic poles as trumpets and voice modifiers. We also rough housed a bit. I wanted them to take a nap and thought I had better make them tired.

After nap they watched Toy Story with Kate while she did work and I went to the grocery store and made dinner. Miss R was in the zone tonight. She was cracking me up left and right. She is more of a physical comedian versus Henry and all the crazy stuff he says. She has some great facial expressions. Tonight they had some pasta salad for dinner. She ate the pasta but none of the veggies that went with or anything else on her plate. She asked for more pasta and I said she had to have something else on her plate first. She gave me this look like, "Are you serious?!" I cracked up.

Of course she was in such a goofy mood that she didn't want to eat. She spent probably over an hour at the table, eventually eating some other things beside pasta but not a lot. We did let her have some ice cream which she devoured. She ate hers as well as Henry's because he didn't like it (the kid has no sweet tooth). Then she licked the bowl clean.

Henry walked on the treadmill a little bit but mostly he still likes to fall off the most. Then it was bath time.

After bath Kate played matching games with them. Henry is very good at matching the faces on the cards we have. Miss R is a work in progress. I expect at some point the light will come on and she will get it.

Then it was time for bed. Once through The Haunted House and Hamilton and they went to sleep with relatively few protests.
